Father's Day in Barry Gift Guide

This is a very subtle reminder that this Sunday is Father’s Day! While some people are queuing up for Primark and Nike, we know that our Barry community like to shop locally.

Why not support your local businesses this week and treat your dad to something right on your doorstep? They might be cliche, but here’s a few ideas.

Every dad on Father’s Day deserves their first tea or coffee in a Barrybados mug! One of the most popular products on the Barrybados website has to be the hoodies. Perfect for Dad to chuck on for a day out on the Island, order yours for just £22.99 on their website now.

As well as suppling us with our takeaway coffee fix, Academy have now launched cocktail boxes of their favourite drinks. The boxes are £14 and include all the tools you need to make your own cocktail. Order on a Wednesday on their website here, but be quick, they will sell out!

What could go better with a cocktail set than a BBQ with meat from Hopkins? The local family butchers have a variety of hampers for BBQs and the special ‘Big Daddy’ which looks like it could probably feed the whole of the High Street for just £20. Order on their website.

Nicola at Budding Designs took one for the team and emptied out these brilliant beer cans to fill with her signature cactus. If your dad loves his garden (and beer) these make a brilliant gift, and you can treat yourself too! Find out more.

Whitmore and Jackson have just launched some limited edition Father’s Day grazing boxes which include all the delicious favourites like bread, cheese and meat. You can even upgrade to include a beer and a glass for £35! To order call them on 01446722191. Find out more.

We might not be able to fly to Italy but we can have a taste of it with the ‘Antipasto Boxes’ back at Paletta in time for Father’s Day! Each one comes with a delicious selection of nibbles and you can order it with a beer or a bottle of red wine too. Prices start from just £7, what a bargain! Call (01446) 722431 to place your order. Awesome Wales is full of zero waste treats and this Mutiny Razor and shaving set is really special. It contains a traditional razor that will last years, it’s better for your skin than disposable razors, better for your bank balance (as replaceable blades are very inexpensive) and better for the environment. Order now on their website for £30!

If your dad has decided to hold onto the beard for now, Goodwash has a handy ‘beard bar’ to keep it smelling and feeling great! They also have a range of other soaps and hand washes so you can treat your dad to the gift of smelling great. Order on their website.

Homemade Wales have launched a selection of Father’s Day hampers for you to choose from. They’re offering free local delivery or collection and you can add a card too, they’ll even write it for you! View the range of hampers and order on their Facebook page.

Finally, how could we miss dad's favourite team, Barry Town United? Treat him to a new shirt and even get his name added as a sponsor for just £20, it will be up there proudly with Barry Magazine! They also have a 'Thank You NHS' shirt available on their website, take a look and show your support here.
